SPM is an abbreviation of "Single Point Mooring", which refers to a technique that a fixed/mobile structure providing an offshore “parking spot” for engineering vessels or VLCC. In this manner, the vessels/VLCC can fully rotate (360°) with the winds and waves around this structure. Due to the weather cocking effect, the moored vessels/VLCC will be settled in the direction of which the environmental force is the least. For offshore oil and gas exploitation, it must have the functions of tanker mooring and fluid transfer.
